Xitang, Jiangnan Under the Covered Corridors

Xitang lies in Jiashan County, Jiaxing, Zhejiang—a nationally famous historic town and 5A scenic area. Canals crisscross the town; streets run along the water; stone bridges, covered corridors, old homes, and the sound of oars shape a classic Jiangnan scene. Early morning and evening are the best times to visit—ideal for a half-day or full-day trip, and often combined with Wuzhen and Hangzhou on private tours.

Misty Rain Corridor

The Misty Rain Corridor is Xitang’s most recognizable sight—covered walkways built along the river, pleasant in sun or rain. Walking the corridor reveals everyday life along the waterfront; at night, lanterns and reflections on the water deepen the atmosphere. Wooden boats pass under old bridges and past riverside homes, offering a view of lanes and wharves from the water.

Shipi Lane

Shipi Lane is a famous narrow alley squeezed between high walls of old mansions—long, tight, and deep. More than a photo stop, it captures the town’s spatial scale: step from the waterfront street into the lane and you feel the layers of Jiangnan mansions, courtyards, and alleys.

Wolong Bridge & Songzi Laifeng Bridge

Wolong Bridge is a classic stone arch, ideal for looking down on the canal and both banks; Songzi Laifeng Bridge is often noted for its name and shape. Link them on foot to see how the water network connects the old streets.

Xiyuan & Historic Mansions

Xiyuan, Zhongfu Hall, Ni Residence, and other old homes show courtyard layouts and woodwork. With more time, leave the main canal and wander courtyards and side lanes for a fuller experience.
